Top Things to Do In Leeds This Christmas

Christmas is on its way and as always, the festivities kicked in to gear a little early for us here at Britannia Turnbull’s Removals. But as Advent kicked in on 1^st December, all things Christmas were go and nowhere more so than our hometown of Leeds. As well as our removals vans, including our brand new 150^th anniversary van, there will be plenty of lights and sights to be seen around the city this Christmas and we’ve chosen our favourites.

Leeds German Market

An old favourite here at Turnbull’s is the traditional German Christkindelmarkt at Leeds’ Millennium Square. Each year it seems to get bigger and better and is a must-do on the Leeds advent calendar. Even if it does get rather busy on a weekend, a weekday visit is always welcome for the entire atmosphere, smells and sights of Christmas. This year’s market is no different with the carousel and German beer tents returning, as well as the classic German and European cuisine.

A Christmas Adventure

While the German market might but a bit more suited towards adults, there are plenty of attractions that are ideal for families. The Christmas Adventure at Stockeld Park is a favourite of the Turnbull’s removals team due to its complete set of ice rink, Santa’s grotto, maze and the star of the show the Illuminated Enchanted Forest. We won’t ruin any of the secrets but we’d say it’s worth the visit!

Showtime

Leeds boasts a number of top class venues for shows and entertainment that will get you in the spirit of Christmas. Check listings at the Leeds Arena and Yorkshire Playhouse, but some of our favourites are elsewhere. The Leeds Grand Theatre is taking bookings for the production of Nativity! For something a little different, the City Varieties plays host to the Aladdin Rock ‘n’ Roll pantomime production. Or, at possibly the grandest setting of all in the city, the Leeds Town Hall is showing screenings of Cinderella and the Christmas classic, The Snowman.

With some of the best shopping facilities in the country, Leeds attracts hordes of Christmas shoppers to its streets each December. With Victoria Gate, Leeds Trinity and multiple other shopping areas, Leeds ticks every box for the organised present buyer and the Christmas Eve last minute rusher.
