Leeds’ Festive Street Names

A few years ago, the Royal Mail released a list of all of the Christmas related street names in the UK. There were nearly 3,400 festive related street names in total across the UK – and some of them are superb!

Some of the highlights were Christmas Pie Avenue in Guildford, Reindeer Road in Tamworth, Bethlehem Street in Grimsby and the brilliant Myrrh Street in Bolton. The top ten most common Christmas themed street name was topped by Holly Street ahead of Bell Lane, Mary Street, Angel Lane and Star Road.

At Britannia Turnbull’s we wanted to do some research into some of the best Christmas themed street names in and around our hometown of Leeds. Surprisingly, none of the top ten most common could be found in Leeds but we did find the following:

Holly Tree Way – Colton

Robin Lane – Pudsey

Snow Hill View – Wakefield

Shepherds Lane – Harehills

Kings Approach – Bramley

Joseph Street – Hunslet

Chestnut Avenue – Headingley

The Firs – Scarcroft

Garland Drive – Cross Gates

Turkey Hill – Pudsey

Our personal favourite was the prospect of running a removal from Partridge Close in Morley to Pear Tree Close in Pontefract! And of course, the most tenuous link was the area of Tinshill north west of Leeds.

So it turns out that Leeds is a very festive city after all! We have been proud to serve the city of Leeds as a removals company for 150 years so Merry Christmas Leeds.
