Our Favourite 2018 Leeds Openings

Leeds is always on the move and this year has been no different. The city is constantly finding new, exciting additions to enhance its ever growing popularity with its current citizens and potential movers. In recent years Leeds has seen amazing new opening such as the Victoria Gate shopping centre, new casinos, bars, restaurants, events and venues. This has helped continue Leeds’ boom and 2018 has been no different.

Here are some of our favourite additions to the city this year so far.

Walkabout

This is definitely more of a return because after a short absence, the Australian themed bar is back open just off Millennium Square in the heart of the city. Whilst its popular for eaters, drinkers and dancers, it was the huge boost brought by England’s World Cup performance in the summer that led to the new Walkabout thriving week on week. Ever since it has proven to be a hit with plenty of sport on screen.

Granville’s Beer & Gin House

Based on Horsforth’s Long Row, Granville’s has proven a real hit for the local area as it links together Town Street and some other long standing local favourites such as the Old Ball, The Queens and La Bistro. As suggested in its full title, Granville’s ticks two boxes. There is a wide selection of ales and lagers to choose from but it is also great for gin lovers. Its wide selection of gins and tonics is made easy by a tiered system behind the bar that allows you to mix and match at a clear cost.

The Potting Shed

After the popularity of the bar and restaurant in Bingley, The Potting Shed opened up near Guiseley train station converting the old HSBC bank. It now delivers a great selection of drinks and also has a thriving kitchens with pizzas proving especially popular. You can either enjoy live music or sport inside or enjoy the sun balcony upstairs.

Jungle Rumble

These indoor, jungle inspired crazy golf courses are ideal for all ages. You can enjoy with the family during the day or with some friends and drinks after dark. There are two eighteen hole options that have proven a big hit thanks to its central location next to The Light Leeds. It also comes with old school games consoles, basketball and pool tables.

The Ivy

This is more of a “coming soon”, but the famous Ivy Restaurant has announced that it is opening in Leeds this September. It will be located in the Victoria Quarter and if it proves as much as a hit as it has been with recent openings in areas such as Harrogate then it will be a welcome addition to Leeds city centre.
